The Consultancy that got the cream

Crisp Consulting, part of the Exeter based Business Development Consultancy Crisp Group, have been working throughout 2006 and into 2007 with A. E Rodda and Son Ltd, based near Redruth a family firm famous for their eponymous brand of Cornish Clotted Cream, on an enviable project for those that enjoy the best of our region’s superb food products.

Rodda’s, a fifth generation family firm has been producing clotted cream for over 100 years and is clearly now the UK’s market leader having developed as a successful business with strong brand and family values.
At the same time the company remains firmly tied to its West Country tradition of producing quality clotted cream and is the popular brand in the local Cornish and Devon markets.

Continuing to grow through increasing retail sales and expanded manufacturing capacity at their site near Redruth, the company was identified by Business Link as a key growth potential company as part of their Evoke Programme which supports entrepreneurial businesses throughout the South West.

The project initially focused on a detailed examination of Rodda’s current operations and potential, the results of which has allowed Crisp and Rodda’s to develop a marketing strategy to manage growth over the next 2-3 years and to create a new marketing communications programme.

The second project phase which is currently taking place sees Crisp Consulting acting initially as Rodda’s own marketing department to help develop the opportunities set out in the marketing plan and to manage the marketing effort. The development of the resultant marketing strategy is viewed by Rodda’s as central to their continuing success.
